Spiritual Being Physical
Infinite, beautiful, and connected.
Morning light draws a pale gold bar across the bedroom floor.
I sit up and place both feet inside it. I stretch my arms toward the ceiling, roll my shoulders, and take one full breath. I’m up with the sun.
I put one my left hand over my heart center.
Here I am. I am here!
I am a spiritual being in a physical body.
I say it once in a quiet voice ~
“I am a spiritual being in a physical body.”
Then I say it with some enthusiasm ~
“I AM A SPIRITUAL BEING IN A PHYSICAL BODY.”
The words gather me into one piece.
My lungs fill up with air. My heart is strong. I am free and whole. I’m healthy and clean.
I am safe inside of my own body. I am at peace.
I walk into the kitchen. I lift a glass from the cupboard. I drink the cold water, and feel the first warmth of the day coming through the window.
My spirit enters the morning through everything I do.
I wash the glass.
I tie my shoes.
I open the door.
The air hits me in the face. Beautiful ~
I step outside and begin to walk.
I let my steps fall into an easy rhythm.
Here is my body.
Here is my breath.
Here is my life.
At the end of the block, the street opens beneath a wide stretch of sky. I stop for a moment and feast my eyes upon the beauty of the morning.
I say the next words exactly as they come ~
“I am connected to the source of everything.”
I feel the ground beneath the soles of my shoes.
I feel the air in the breeze against my arms.
A neighbor smiles and calls, “Good morning!”
I’m swept along by a deep current of love, attention, and possibility.
I feel it when I’m present. I feel it when I listen. I feel it when I create. I feel it when I allow myself to belong… When I accept ~
I return the neighbor’s wave.
I feel the strength in my legs and the steady motion of my arms.
I realize I’m just a small part of this glorious morning. To me, almost all ~ a co-creator.
The path bends into a small park. I pass beneath the trees and follow it around the bend.
My next words rise with every step ~
I'm infinite. I'm beautiful.
I say it softly ~
“I’m infinite. I’m beautiful.”
Then I let the trees, the path, and the open sky hear me ~
“I’M INFINITE! I’M BEAUTIFUL!”
I feel infinity inside me.
Room for ideas ~
Room for new beginnings ~
Room for possibilities ~
Room to learn, forgive, imagine, and become.
I recognize myself in this body, on this path, on this exact morning. I am beautiful when I breathe deeply. I am beautiful when I laugh. I am beautiful when I take my time, and when I move with purpose.
My stride.
My voice.
My imagination.
My choice, my power.
Life is really quite incredible.
At the footbridge, I rest my hands on the rail. Dark blue water holds the colors of the brightening sky. A smooth pebble lies beside my shoe.
I crouch, pick it up, and hold it in my palm.

The next choice rests in my hand.
The stone is small enough to disappear inside my closed hand.
I open my fingers and say ~
“I am imbued with the power of creation!”
I feel enormous.
I let the pebble fall into the water.
It touches the surface. Bright rings spread across the blue reflection. I watch them widen until the water stills.
My power lives in the decisions I make. Who I choose to be ~
When I remember to be patient.
When I smile at the person coming toward me.
When I do what I say I’ll do.
I create when I give my attention to things, people, ideas.
The power of creation is imbued into every moment of our lives.
I turn toward home.
The sun reaches farther down the street now. I walk through alternating bands of gold and shadow. I stroll up to my door feeling light and ready for the day.
Inside, I rinse my hands and pat them dry on a hand towel.
The bedroom floor is fully lit by the sun now.
I sit at my desk, open my notebook, and write four lines ~
“I am connected to the source of everything.”
“I am imbued with the power of creation!”
“I’m infinite. I’m beautiful.”
“I am a spiritual being in a physical body.”
The page is no longer blank. Neither is the day.
I am energy in motion. I’m spiritual being physical.
