The Cavalry Is Here!

Help always arrives right when I need it.

The cavalry is here to help!
2026-08-07 V0.3 Third draft The Things We Say

Rain ticks against the kitchen window.

I stand at the counter with a warm mug in one hand and my keys in the other. The sun is shy this morning. Thoughts cross my mind ~

The call I need to return.

The promise I need to keep.

The question I can’t answer yet.

I put those thoughts out of my head. I wipe them out!

I pull on my coat. I reach for the door and tell myself ~

There are so many people in my life who love me and will always be there for me.
- Robby V.

I say it out loud ~

“There are so many people in my life who love me and will always be there for me.”

Again. I believe it ~

“THERE ARE SO MANY PEOPLE IN MY LIFE WHO LOVE ME AND WILL ALWAYS BE THERE FOR ME.”

I take a deep breath. My shoulders relax.

No one answers. I don’t need a response. I know exactly what I mean.

I picture faces. I hear familiar voices. I remember the people who know Me.

I step outside and into the light rain as it cascades down from the heavens.

The road is wet. It shimmers as the sun starts to fade the sky into lightness. My shoes make a soft sound on the pavement. I start naming people as I walk.

One step ~ someone who listens.

Another ~ someone who tells me the truth.

Another ~ someone who makes me laugh.

Another ~ someone who would gladly pull up a chair.

I don’t need every person to solve every problem. I don’t need a crowd following me down the street. I remember the love my friends and family have for me.

The cavalry is here to help! My friends and family are all around me ready to provide support.
- Robby V.

I smile and laugh. I imagine thunder on the horizon, a cloud of dust rising, and riders charging over the hill.

Real help looks quieter in my life.

An unexpected phone call.

A home cooked meal.

A ride home.

An invitation with no pressure.

Someone saying, “I got you.”

Help is arriving right now ~

“THE CAVALRY IS HERE TO HELP!”

“People ALWAYS help me without me ever having to ask.”

A rain-soaked anonymous walker raises a hand just short of a front door as it opens from inside and another anonymous person waits in warm light.

Help always arrives right on time.

Help can be so ordinary that I can almost miss it. If I wait for rescue to make an entrance, I overlook what’s already coming toward me. What’s already arrived ~

I just need to say thank you and let help reach me.

Help always arrives right on time.

Right on time?

Every time.

Sometimes I want help early. I want to see the whole map before I leave the house. I want to know who is coming, what they will bring, and how the story ends. So boring!

THIS KIND OF THINKING IS A MISTAKE. Most of the time, I don’t need any help… and premature assistance only serves to stifle my own growth.

Right on time doesn’t mean ahead of every discomfort. It means exactly when I need it.

By the time I turn toward home, the rain has softened. Pale morning light rests on the road. I think about the cavalry charging towards me.

A stampede. Horns blasting triumphantly. Shaking the earth!

I walk back into my kitchen.

The mug is where I left it. The chair is empty. The room feels full.

I say all four affirmations together ~

“There are so many people in my life who love me and will always be there for me.”

“The cavalry is here to help! My friends and family are all around me ready to provide support.”

“People always help me without me ever having to ask.”

“Help always arrives right on time.”

I am not alone.
